How does BOTOX® work?
BOTOX® blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that cause expression lines. BOTOX® relaxes the muscles so they do not contract. The contraction of the muscle is the culprit causing the wrinkles and fine lines. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected when done right.

Frequently Asked Questions
Both BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport use the same active ingredients to reduce muscle activity and smooth wrinkles, but they’re distinctly different products. Most of their differences are related to their consistencies. Dysport is thinner and tends to “spread” more. Our Doctors prefer BOTOX® because it’s better at staying where it’s administered. This typically creates more predictable results.
BOTOX® injections have been used safely and effectively since the 1980’s and have been clinically proven to be safe in over 99.9% of all cases. Each year, thousands of clients receive BOTOX® treatments for a variety of conditions including excessive sweating, and it is quickly becoming a popular treatment to reverse the visible signs of aging.
Using the smallest needle available, our Doctors will gently inject a very small amount of BOTOX®, precisely into several locations on the face. There is very little pain (most people say it feels like a bug bite). No anesthesia is required, and you can resume normal activities immediately. Some clients experience a slight temporary bruising at the injection site which can easily be covered with make-up.
You will NOT be allowed to rub the injection site, do any strenuous physical activity, or lay down for four hours after, as it can result in the BOTOX® spreading to unwanted areas and causing undesirable (but temporary) drooping. After 4 hours, there are no restrictions at all.
Muscles treated with BOTOX® usually start to relax within a few days, and reach maximum relaxation within 2 weeks
About 3 to 4 months after the first Cosmetic injections treatment, the wrinkles gradually return. Since the majority of clients are happy with the results of their therapy, they return for another treatment when they notice the effects beginning to wear off. If you have a second treatment before the treated muscles have returned to their old bad habits, your second treatment will usually last longer. If you continue to come in for treatments, you will generally find that the effects last longer after each one.
